Impostor! Or… er… is that just healthy competition? :-)

My, my, my. Isn’t this interesting?

Lots of familiar features, but I do like the option for Practice Partners to find each other. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that our own beloved CPod has something similar in the works. Seems too good an idea to ignore (and I know a few of us have recommended it).

Their forum and blog are non-existant and sparse, respectively, but it’s a friendly enough interface for the rest of the site. I haven’t yet had a chance to see how their audio podcasts are, but the CPod team are a hard group to beat. I find it supremely interesting that they allow users to upload their own audio lessons. I wonder how that will play out! If it’s anything like the POD revolution in printing, I think you’ll find a few real gems in the midst of a ton of crap, but I think it’s a great idea strictly from the point of view of getting the community involved in the site.
I’m interested to see how many more of these places crop up.

What are your thoughts here, folks?

Does anyone remember babelpod.com? A place for practice partners to find each other?

If I go to a website and don’t understand what it’s offering within 10 seconds I leave. This is what happened at the site you just mentioned. I couldn’t find the mp3 link and couldn’t be bothered looking.
    Thumbs down. :(

By the way, it’s “impostor” with 2 ‘o’s and no ‘e’!

I am certainly not one who can correct the professional author, but the impostor is an imposter! Both are correct, at least according to my four different dictionaries. It’s still unfortunate that so many people are unable to spell words more than one way. ;)

For those who wern’t around back in the day, check out http://blog.praxislanguage.com/2006/02/13/babelpod/. This quietly went away some time ago. Maybe CPod knows something this new site hasn’t learned yet. Then again, maybe the new site has figured out the secret.

Its still unfortunate that so many people are unable to envisage approaching the same idea in more than one way. Study partner exchange sites have sprung up and survived despite the demise of babelpod (which didn’t seem to have enough energy invested in it) sorry couldn’t resist the irony…

The new site needs work but may find a niche if the make adjustments. They are making a few fundamental errors though, some nothing to do with language learning, just basic web sense . I feel like a detailed review coming on.

I never thought I’d learn English at Chinesepod. I guess you learn something every day!
