Pop quiz: How long does it take to start losing the knowledge you have spent a year acquiring?
Answer: Not long at all.
For the past few weeks, I simply haven’t had the wherewithal to hunker down and really dig my heels in on any of the lessons. I’ve done the audio-only thing every few days, but my brain has really missed the premium features. I have already begun to lose my immediate recognition of the characters. That’s a bit disconcerting.
Of course, some of the characters are as familiar to me as English now, so that’s encouraging, but I’m going to have to find a few minutes every day driving those others home.
I do want to apologize for not being around much these days. I had really hoped to get another podcast in your ears before production started on the film, but it just didn’t happen. Principal photography starts in the morning and tonight was spent with the cast drinking a lot of wine, eating Nutella wontons, and getting to know each other.
That being said, I need to hit the sack.
After I review the latest Elementary lesson, of course.

Hi Frank
I know the feeling when I changed companies, locations….. I lost about two months of doing my chinese study the way I was accustomed to doing it. I am just starting to find more time. I found that many characters that I could write easily I now had doubts or even forgotten.
And being in Tokyo at the moment I am not surrounded in Chinese as I was in Taiwan.
But for me the learning or in some cases relearning is fine. I think the CPod community really helps.
Mike
