I’m about to cash in my chips on another day but before I did, I wanted to take a moment to poke my head in and let you know I’m still alive out here. In fact, I found a few spare brain cells today and managed to muscle through three lessons and the latest episode of Qing Wen.
I kind of hate to say this, but… I think I actually enjoy the Qing Wen shows more than the daily lessons. It’s just so… fun!
On Sunday, I went to my local Asian grocery store. I’m a regular there. Been going for years. Well, a few months ago, one of the young guys who works there, a 6′2″ fellow named “Jason,” exchanged a few pleasantries in Mandarin with me and it’s been full blast ever since. Every time I walk in there, he starts rapid-firing and I have to ask him to slow down. After that we do pretty well. Yesterday, I spoke maybe half a dozen words in English the whole time I was in there. I was really excited by the progress I’ve made!
I’m going to get a new podcast online in the next few days. I’ll have two, count ‘em TWO movies in that podcast, so make sure to check it out!
In non-Chinese news, production on the films goes well. Casting is a strange beast. Screen tests happen on Sunday here at my home studio.

I have had a bit of mixed luck recently, feel free to borrow the good bits. BUT, there may come a time when I need some back.
I go to this chinese restaurant quite frequently, every cahnce I get I throw some Chinese at them, It took a while to get them to reply back to me in Chinese, but they finally gave in, now everytime I go in they greet me in Chinese and ask me what I want in Chinese, it is a great way to practice on daily basis.

But really, we don’t mind you doing other things, it just makes your occasional appearances all the more precious. Good luck, and take time to enjoy all the ups and downs of your other little world. Just remember we’re always here when you’re ready, and we’re pretty harmless.
