Integrated Chinese Level 1, Lesson 1 is about greetings, and the content takes the form of two dialogues. We’ll break down our related ChinesePod lessons that way.
Dialogue 1: Exchanging Greetings
This is the basic dialogue about asking someone’s name and stating one’s own name. See these ChinesePod lessons for reinforcement:
- Newbie - Intro 2: What’s your name? Say hi and ask the other person’s name. Social interaction at its simplest!
- Newbie - What’s his name? This time you’re asking about someone else’s name.
- Newbie - Initial Client Meetings A more polite tone here, and business cards are passed around.
- Newbie - I’m here for an interview Don’t let the interview angle fool you; this is a very basic lesson on introducing yourself to the receptionist.
Diaologue II: Asking One’s Status
This dialogue gets into identity; specifically nationality and job. ChinesePod has the following lessons to complement this material:
- Newbie - Polite Introductions Building also on the material from Dialogue I, in this dialogue you learn how to ask where a person is from.
- Newbie - Intro 3: Where are you from? In this lesson, you actually learn to make a guess about where someone is from. The answer is affirmative.
- Newbie - Where are you from? In this lesson too, you make a guess about where someone is from. The answer is negative this time.
- Newbie - Basic Greetings Not much new here, but it all reinforces.
As always, questions and comments are welcome.
