I’d be interested to know how much luck other learners have had in compiling their own ‘dictionaries’. I admit I am a rather non-diligent learner, but all the lists I ever try to put together I never really review. The only luck I’ve really had is with my Oxford Chinese-English dictionary on my palm pilot that allows me to save words I look up and to make various catagories of lists. Anyone have secrets to building vocab out there?
I like the Chinesepod function of building a list, but as I haven’t really figured out a ‘truely’ totally mobile/wired internet toy yet, the words aren’t handy when I’m out and about. Ideas? Hmm..maybe exporting the Chinesepod list out to the palm??..
Ken Carroll discusses issues concerning learning generally, and learning Mandarin in particular. With technology as the driver, he believes the most effective learning combines elements of collaboration with self-direction. If that seems like a contradiction, then you need to read the blog.

You can export the word bank to a txt or csv file. Maybe you can transfer it that way?
I transfered it into a spreadsheet that way and it’s then very easy to sort into english or pinyin order then.
